What do you do when you wait?

Do we wait with anticipation and wonder or with desperation and worry? I struggle here, often just trying to get to “next”and worrying about how and when that is going to happen. But I am trying to learn to enjoy the moment that I am in while I wait for the moment that I am praying for. In the book of James we read that our life is like our breath when it’s cold outside, we see it for a moment but then it’s gone. None of us knows how many moments we have left -we should use them wisely and make the most out of each one.

I know that is easier said than done but maybe this will help …I recently listened to a message in which our pastor was talking about waiting and he made this statement, “how we wait reveals who we trust”. Think on that for a minute. I quickly realized that many times I trust in my presumed control of things that really are totally outside of my control. Trusting in God’s control is a much better way.

Throughout the biblical narrative there are two common themes that will greatly help us to wait – 1. God is with us while we are waiting ( He is Emmanuel Matthew 1:22,23; 28:20). 2. God is still working while we are waiting (even when we don’t see it or sense it) Romans 8:28-30;Philippians 1:6;2:12

So let’s worship in this moment by making the most of it. Move from just enduring the moments in between where we are and where we are hoping to be, and start enjoying them. Remember that God is with you and He is preparing you for whatever He is preparing for you next.
